"to empower families and individuals of all ages to collaboratively explore, learn, and lead using technology and engineering."
We’re building out “The Forge Downtown” so that our existing Cary members have a place to explore, learn and lead with technology, just as they always have, and beyond that to provide more opportunities in STEAM to others in Cary.
The Forge Downtown will be a facility in Cary, with tools, making space, electronics, and collaborative workspaces.
Forges provide interesting things for all ages -- not just where adults go; not just where parents take and drop their children. All ages can find things to do, to make, to create, to learn. Underlying all of our programs is a unique framework of learning and leadership that prepares people with 21st Century leadership skills including collaboration, critical out of the box thinking, team building, and creativity.
The full Forge experience isn’t a 1 or 2 hour program each week -- it’s a year-round community of learning where people can work with people outside of the programs they’re participating in.
Community engagement is a big part of the learning opportunity for all ages -- taking technical expertise to the public and sharing that enthusiasm is a huge learning opportunity for all ages.
Intentionally reducing barriers to technology and engineering, we have a large number of girls and minorities, despite not having a public location yet.
